The luxury auction site LuxuryLink.com has released its list of the world’s best luxury hotels and Peru’s Hotel Monasterio was one of the winners. We have to agree that after visiting a lot of hotels on a lot of continents, this is one that is truly special. See our full review of Hotel Monasterio.

It’s hard for a newly constructed hotel to achieve this kind of greatness, matching the kind of workmanship you see in a building that is several centuries old. Some developers try, but very few succeed since it would take a vast fortune to duplicate the kind of craftsmanship that went into church-related construction in colonial times. The fact that it is managed by the dependable Orient-Express company seals the status as one of the world’s best.
Also making the list were several hotels from Mexico that we will be reviewing at a later date.
