The next-best option if they're booked (doubtful this time of year) is to stay at one of the three places right next to Tikal park. Not as fancy or as good a value, but great location. I was just exploring the La Lancha for a possible late Aug visit (flight purchased, not sure where to stay) and came across your post. I'm flying into Guatemala City and am in the planning stages of getting over to Lake Izabel. Any suggestions? If the La Lancha is booked, can you reccomend another resort?
