It's a little harsh, not very complex, but never offensive. Good caramel notes. I love it in iced rum and coke with a little lime. The author is quite right that it's not very complex, and I'd rather get a good Nicaraguan Flor de Cana Gran Reserva for a similar price, but for mixing, don't waste your money on the other garbage. This one is good for sipping neat if you like it, but better for a quality mixer. I don't understand those that use the cheap junk for mixing. This is right at the level you want for either way, and it doesn't break the bank. Very nice rum, but not perfect (and not expected to be so). I give it an 8 of 10, especially considering the price in Florida.
