Playa del Carmen penthouse rental

Many beach spots in Mexico have a good variety of vacation rental properties to choose from for short-term stays. Thanks to its rapid growth in the past decade and a half, Playa del Carmen is one of the top choices, with a terrific selection of condos, townhouses, and large homes to choose from. Since much of the city is pedestrian-friendly and compact, they aren’t spread out a long way from the action.

There are plenty of fine resorts to the north and south of Playa del Carmen in Mexico, of course. In the past few years some luxury hotels have opened in the city itself too and we’ve covered them in detail. The problem with most hotels though, unless you spring for the best suite, is you don’t have all that much room. If you rent a vacation villa or condo instead though, you can end up with a real kitchen and a lot more space for a family or group. You don’t have to downsize from where you spend your home time.

BRIC rental condo

BRIC Vacation Rentals is the first place to check if you’re looking for Playa del Carmen condo rentals or a free-standing house with a driveway or garage in the Playacar neighborhood. BRIC has been in business since 2005 and manages about 150 rental properties. They have a staff of around 60 full-time staffers taking care of renters. So this is not a do-it-yourself rental where you get a key code and you’re on your own. The experience they provide guests is more like that of a fine hotel.

All vacation rental units come with maid service, delivery of bottles of drinking water, a pre-paid local cell phone loaded with contact information, and personalized check in and check out. Service fees are clearly displayed on the booking page and you won’t get hit with any hidden extra charges. There’s also a concierge service for booking tee times, getting groceries stocked in advance or other special requests. You can have everything ready for your first meal in a kitchen like this:

Despite the fine workmanship, quality furniture, and attentive service you can expect from a staffed rental agency with high standards, prices for these vacation rentals are quite a good value when compared to a hotel. Many of the ocean view and penthouse units of two or three bedrooms are in the range of $250 to $450 per night. That’s where many of the top Riviera Maya resorts start for their lowest category (sleeping two) in the off-season. In this case though you get a full-blown kitchen, a living room, a deck or balcony, and more. If you visit their rental deals page you might find a 10% discount, a complimentary massage, or other goodies from owners who want to fill an unrented unit.

PDC condo rentalOften you’ll end up with much more than a couple bedrooms, like walk-in closets, your own plunge pool, a billiard room, or a big barbecue area with a view. You can expect laundry facilities and kitchen utensils. Often there will by gym access and a large pool for the complex, like a resort, but with much better price-to-space equation for the family.

You can sort results to find your perfect Playa del Carmen vacation rental unit. Each listing has extensive professional photos, a detailed description, and sometimes a video tour as well. Since these are not “rent by owner” properties, you can also phone BRIC to get advice on how different units stack up against each other.

For families and small groups traveling together, a spacious condo can feel a lot more relaxed that a boxy hotel room with suitcases unpacked along the wall. If you’d like a place to really call your own on your next Playa del Carmen trip but don’t want to give up all the personal service you’d get from a hotel, check the BRIC Vacation Rentals site and you’ll probably be surprised at how many stunning places to stay are available.

After you’ve got a place to stay picked out, check the Travel Yucatan website for ideas on what to do in the region.
