all-inclusive Los Cabos resort

While the best-known beach resort area on the other side of Mexico is filled with upscale all-inclusive resorts, there haven’t been many in Los Cabos until now. Grand Velas All Suites and Spa Resort opened with a splash recently and staked out a spot as the top choice for paying just one amount.

Grand Velas has a great reputation as being an all-inclusive resort that pleases picky travelers who normally would frown on the whole concept. They’ve got restaurants that would be the envy of most a la carte luxury hotels, the rooms are spacious, and the spas are outstanding. The new Cabo expansion has doubled down on all those concepts, first of all by making sure every room is a suite.

That alone puts it ahead of most of the competition in the area, where getting that kind of space usually requires a pricey upgrade. Here there are six categories but the smallest units are 1,000 square feet—larger than all but the VIP options at the other Los Cabos luxury resorts. It’s not just open space though. Each suite comes with all the tech touches you’d expect, a stocked minibar, private terrace, Jacuzzi, living room furniture, and fine bedding. Spacious baths have L’Occitane toiletries, bathrobes, and sandals.

The chefs recruited for the restaurants here include two–star Michelin Chef Sidney Schutte, who serves an elegant tasting menu (included in the rates) at Cocina de Autor. Other choices are mostly menu-driven and include Italian, French, high-end Mexican, and Seafood. Here “all-inclusive Los Cabos” doesn’t mean taking a step down.

With a staff ratio of 3 to 1, your wish is their command. My personal butler arranged for a to–go lunch when I ventured into the beaches of Cabo San Lucas and hustled back to the pool to retrieve my forgotten camera on my behalf. She also made sure that my minibar was filled with my particular preferences.

From baby concierge services and private nannies to the beach tote and beach towels tucked into the bedroom closet, the entire concept behind Grand Velas Los Cabos is for guests to relax and not sweat the small stuff while on holiday.

The “Spa” part really belongs in the name of this Grand Velas, with a large spa that includes a hydrotherapy water   journey in the vein of the one at their Riviera Maya property. New to Grand Velas Los Cabos are six two-story wellness suites that are built to focus on a healthy you.
